Un.Censor.Ing Film Screening: What Shall We Do With These Buildings? and Peñoncito

Fri 22 Mar 2024 7:00 PM - 8:45 PM GMT Bush House LT 2, WC2B 4PA

Join us for the screenings of Jonathan Ben-Shaul’s film “What Shall We Do With These Buildings?” (2022, 28 min) and Manuel Correa’s film “Peñoncito'' (2022, 30 min), followed by a Q&A with the directors and producer.

“What Shall We Do With These Buildings?”

It is a documentary-dance film which explores the legacy of Soviet architecture in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Moving fluidly between interview and dance, the film playfully investigates the dynamic impact that these buildings have on the people who live with them. “What Shall We Do With These Buildings?” Trailer

“Peñoncito”

Local elder Don Facundo Rodriguez attempts in vain to recall the story of the day he discovered a human skull in his backyard which was later revealed to belong to the earliest known inhabitant of the Americas. In this chronicle of rumors and distant memories, questions, and answers play tricks on each other - inviting us to ask, how much of our own history is fiction? https://manuelcorrea.com/Penoncito

The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session with film directors Jonathan Ben-Shaul and Manuel Correa and producer of What Shall We Do With These Buildings?, Mykola Naboka. The session will be moderated by Jenia Gubkina, Architectural and Urban Historian, Co-Founder of Urban Forms Centre, and Vali Mahlouji, Curator and Founder of Archaeology of the Final Decade.

This is a free event, but attendees need to register. The venue for this event is Lecture Theatre 2, Bush House, BH(S)4.04
