Portraits are one of the oldest art forms in the world. Learn how to draw and paint faces, capture a genuine likeness and a hint of the person’s character!
Sophie will show you different examples of portraits through the ages from old to modern, and discuss techniques used, poses, composition, lighting, skin tone, emotions captured etc.
You will have a choice of either bringing a photograph of a loved one that you want to replicate or use as inspiration for a portrait or even use a mirror and do a self-portrait.
There is an additional cost of approximately £7 for materials payable in cash to the tutor on the day. This is for any paints or consumables used
Please bring: Drawing materials (pencils or charcoal) and painting materials, including paints & canvas/canvas board.
Apron or wear old clothes.
Windows in all rooms will be opened to improve circulation so you may want to bring an extra layer of clothing such as a light jumper or cardigan.
