Rockin The Trossachs
Fri 31 Jan 2025 6:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Kinlochard Village Hall, FK8 3TL
Description
Coming to brighten the dark days of early 2025, a mini-festival of quality music with Edinburgh-based band, Liz Jones and Broken Windows, supported by three great local acts: Drift & Sway, The Caterwaulers, and Whispering Angel! (NB The event has been extended till 10:30pm to fit everyone in!).
If you came to the last Rockin The Trossachs back in 2022, you'll know this is an event not-to-be-missed! Tickets are limited, and may sellout fast (if so, we'll be operating a waiting list), so buy early to avoid disappointment!
Rockin The Trossachs is a fundraiser in support of the Kinlochard Community Residents Association's goal to purchase 22 acres of land in the village ("The Field")! The event will be BYOB, volunteer-run and musicians are giving their time and talent pro bono so all proceeds go towards the community buyout. Their generosity enables a win-win: both a great night out and a contribution to shared local aspirations for sustainable community-led development and enviromental restoration.
OUR MINI-FESTIVAL LINE-UP IS:
LIZ JONES AND BROKEN WINDOWS: Our headliners will be performing original songs with a sound that's rootsy rock, with dashes of blues and psychedelia. Their set will include tracks from Double Measures -their new (third) studio album- already gaining great reviews, and frequent airplay on BBC Radio 2 and Radio Scotland. The “Windies” enjoy a devoted following, 5-star reviews and packed performances, including in 2024, at Belladrum, on tour with The James Oliver Band, and in Europe. Their six-piece band includes classy 'voice-to-wake-the-dead' vocals from singer-songwriter, Liz Jones; blistering guitar from legendary Scottish axeman, John Bruce (Blues’N’Trouble, Safehouse, Allmans Project); sparkling percussion and mandolin from Suzy Cargill (ex-Hong Kong Sinfonietta percussionist); bass grooves from Rod Kennard (Blues'N'Trouble); and drums and keyboards from Gary Davidson and Jamie Hamilton, respectively (both Allmans Project).
- 'Johnny Knows The Roads', by Liz Jones & Broken Windows
- 'Taking Your Time', by Liz Jones & Broken Windows
- 'Stain', by Liz Jones & Broken Windows
- 'Lover', by Liz Jones & Broken Windows
DRIFT AND SWAY: A new band from Gartmore and this will be their debut gig. They are Dave Lang on vocals and keyboards and George Cathro on bass. Dave and George have played in dozens of bands over the years including Hey! Elastica and The Revillos and were key members of Miro's Ghost who are regularly played on BBC Scotland and Heartland FM - https://mirosghost.bandcamp.com/album/miros-ghost
Their songs drift and sway through tales of life, love and lunar exploration.
THE CATERWAULERS: Back by popular demand, a talented young duo, Catriona (vocals) and Innes (guitar and backing vocals). Kinlochard born-and-bred, who blew the crowd away at the last Rockin The Trossachs! Playing a folky mix of covers and original numbers.
WHISPERING ANGEL: A new act from Kinlochard, led by local guitarist Chris Calcutt, who'll be joined by Janine Finlay (lead vocals), Mike Bishop (bass), David Kinnaird (drums), and Jamie Hamilton (keyboards). Whispering Angel will be performing a cracking set of covers spanning every decade since the 60s, with something for everyone.
.Enabled and supported by the Kinlochard Village Hall and the Kinlochard Community Residents Association.
