Please join us for dinner in the dark, a sightless journey into the senses.

Excellent food, scents and sounds, an experience full of sensual delights, good company and delightful, surroundings.

Dining in the dark is a popular adventure for folks around the globe, and in a playful collaboration, experimental sound artists The Neutrinos and much admired Supper Club cook, Tom Oxley, have created a tasteful, gorgeous, splendid Little World.

Lulled by spatialised sound and song, and wearing a comfortable blindfold you will be gently guided through an extraordinary world of delights in which to experience delicious food, hear the unheard and meet others in a way you’ve never met them before.

Tom will be cooking 5 extraordinary courses of heavenly delicious vegetarian food. As mentioned, Tom runs a successful Supper Club in Norwich and loves designing menus that not only make you squeal with delight and anticipation, but are also nutritious, not by holding off on the cream, butter and cheese, but by being balanced, "how about that, eh?" Tell us if you are vegan, not a problem, we can prepare delicious vegan food and let us know any food allergies. Last time Tom successfully juggled all sorts of food intolerance/allergy combinations and no one knew! A true food alchemist.

Previous diners said...

"So lovely to just be present for the tastes, textures, flavours and sounds."

"Good to have a variety of eating styles - finger food, sip, knife & fork & spoon. Made me aware of my usual eating styles and things
like fork weight and knife resistance."

"Such a beautiful event I felt I was on another plane of sensory existence and was so happy to be with you all and ALIVE"

Dinner in the Dark

Q&A

Tell me about the food?

The food will be delicious and plentiful. Fill but not stuff you, and served in smaller portions. It’s all veggie – mainly vegan – because it’s generally lower carbon, lower processing and high taste. It’s no fun if we tell you the actual dishes before you start!

Each course is designed for you to play with the experience, and really get a feel for your food.

And booze?

Bring your own. If you ask, we will top up your glass.

The blindfold thing

We know it’s a little off the beaten track and that’s important.

For too long we have been disconnected from our food, blinded by packaging and shovelling sugar on the go. The blindfold will help us think about and experience our food more, basing our opinion on gut instinct.

When you arrive, you’ll be shown the tables and space, to acclimatise and feel safe. OF COURSE you can remove yours if things get uncomfortable. There will be very low lighting in the room. And yes, we will show you pics of the food after, if you’d like.

You will be given eating instructions, e.g. this one is in a bowl, is hot, and you may want to use a spoon or fork or lightsabre etc (which we will provide).

We will provide the blindfolding.

Who’s cooking?

Tom Oxley runs a small supper club in the city and regularly serves up fab fodder to city folk. As already mentioned he knows his nutrition onions, and prides himself on a healthy gut biome. Yes, he does GF. No, he doesn’t do weddings.

The band are also helping prep and serve. We have hygiene certificates, not just grade 8 piano ;)

Timings

Timing is important for so many courses. So we request that you arrive at least 15 minutes before serving time to arrive, wash your hands (really!) and get to know the space where you’ll feast.

Price.

Yes, we understand it’s not cheap. Nothing good ever is. The food will be delicious and plenty of it. And then there’s the secret treats…

ACCESS: The venue is a 1700s house, it is not obviously wheelchair accessible. Get in touch, you know what you need, tell us. Sensory map available for those that need to know everything, visits possible. You know what you need better than anyone else, get in touch: karen@neutrinos.co.uk (07985558769 - you can text or call)
