Keynsham Life Saving Club are running a taster session at Keynsham Leisure Centre. Over the course of the two hours, we'll give you a flavour of the sort of activities that you might cover on a typical club night. You'll learn some basic first-aid, find out about the various types of casualty, discover different ways to safely enter the pool, and try your hand at a rope-throw rescue.

Keynsham Life Saving Club is an established not-for-profit club run by volunteers at Keynsham Leisure Centre. We run Rookie Lifeguard Training and National Lifesaving Academy courses for children aged 8-18 years old, so they can learn essential water safety, rescue and sports skills: all delivered in a fun and exciting way. During our regular club nights, your children will learn to stay safe around water. They'll also learn how they can safely help someone else who's in trouble in the water, using a variety of land-based and water-based rescue techniques.

To take part in the taster session, children must be aged 8-18 years old, able to swim 4 lengths, and be comfortable in deep water. Participants should wear comfortable clothes (no jeans, skirts or dresses, please) and should bring their swimming costume, towel and goggles (if you have them). Please meet at the leisure centre reception at 1:50pm so we can get started promptly at 2pm.

We want everyone to be able to attend these taster session - irrespective of your financial circumstances. For this reason, we're offering two ticket prices: if you feel able to, we'd love you to buy one of our £5 tickets - this will help us cover the cost of pool hire. If money is tight right now, please feel free to select a complimentary ticket - we don't want anyone to miss out because of their financial situation.

Unfortunately there isn't enough space in the fitness suite for parents to watch the land-based training (2-3pm) but you are very welcome to watch the pool-based training (3-4pm) from the poolside seating.
