Dive into the world of lifesaving sport - a fast, dynamic and hugely rewarding aquatic sport where real rescue skills meet competitive challenge! Whether you’re looking for a fresh fitness goal or simply want to try something new, these adult beginner sessions are the perfect place to start.

During these 50 minute classes, you’ll get hands‑on with the core skills that make lifesaving sport so unique. You’ll learn to swim with fins for speed and power, carry manikins like a professional, navigate underwater obstacles with confidence, and throw rescue ropes to recover your casualty in seconds. Every activity is designed to be exciting, achievable, and supportive — perfect for complete beginners who want to try something new.

Over the course of these four sessions, you'll get to experience the following lifesaving events:

  • Obstacle Swim — Swim freestyle while diving under a series of submerged obstacles. Distances vary (100m or 200m), but the thrill is the same: smooth, fast underwater navigation.
  • Manikin Carry — Swim out, dive to recover a submerged manikin, bring it to the surface, and carry it to the finish. A brilliant test of power and technique.
  • Rescue Medley — A combination of freestyle swimming, underwater swimming, and manikin carrying — a true all‑round challenge.
  • Manikin Carry with Fins — Add fins for extra speed, then recover and carry the manikin.
  • Manikin Tow with Fins — Swim with fins and a rescue tube, secure it around a floating manikin, and tow it to the finish.
  • Line Throw — A timed event where you throw a rescue line to a teammate (“the victim”) and pull them back to safety.
Every session will be different, so you can come to a single session or sign-up for all four. All you need is the ability to swim 100m front crawl without stopping. We’ll take care of the rest: building your skills, boosting your confidence, and giving you a taste of one of the most rewarding aquatic sports out there!

To take part in these sessions, you must be aged +18 years old and be able to swim 4 lengths front-crawl without stopping. You'll need a swimming costume, towel and goggles (and you're welcome to bring your own fins if you have them - more on that here - or borrow a pair from the club). Please be changed and ready on poolside at 3pm so we can get started promptly.
