Many people find it helpful to have a mala, or set of prayer beads, to use when reciting mantras to count how many they have completed. Mantra means “mind protection” and for centuries, mantra recitation has been used to attain a peaceful and happy mind by pacifying the negative thoughts that give rise to our suffering. It is the supreme method to enhance the qualities of our body and mind.
During the first part of this event Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Dragden, will explain the use of mantras and how to use and care for a mala. In the second part, our centre volunteer Georgie, will show you how to make and mend malas. If you wish to take your mala home with you, you may do so for a small additional fee.
Its a wonderful chance to spend time with like minded people and if the use of malas and Mantras is new to you, here is a rare opportunity to learn about them.
