This intermediate workshop with punch needle teacher Sahm Jalbert of Kussen and Kiss, assumes you are confident in the punch needle basics (your stitches stay in, and are consistent). You’re probably itching to use your new skills to make practical, useable items but it can be a challenge to figure out how. We’ll explore many finishing techniques such as rug hems, whip stitched edges, cinching and how to achieve tidy purse interiors.
In this class, we’ll be working with the Oxford #14 Fine Punch Needle tool. If you haven’t used a Fine tool before, you’ll learn some tips about how it differs from a Regular tool and how best to approach stitching with it. However, all the finishing techniques we will learn and examine are suitable for use with both Fine and Regular tools.
We will examine all kinds of projects and talk about why you would choose one finishing technique over another but the class project will be a set of five coasters. One will be our sampler and the other four you can finish with the technique you like best. We may not get all four completed in class but all the materials including the punch needle tool and a no-slip hoop are yours to take home so you can finish them at your own pace.
Cost $135 + $80 materials fee
