Workshop: Drawing nature with Matt Ponting of Doodling Around

About this event

Investigate the natural ecosystems and histories of two local green spaces, and the impact on them of air and sound pollution through observational art making with Matt Ponting. From initial sketching, you’ll create watercolour and text artworks reflecting on the impact of the local urban environment on nature.

About Matt Ponting // Doodling Around

Newham-based Conversationist and Community Artist Matt Ponting uses art to make green spaces and urban environments accessible for all, and his artwork is centred on local discovery and exploration, of nature, heritage and community.

As well as transforming East Ham Nature Reserve with hand painted murals and welcoming colourful signs, he recently illustrated a set of signs along the Greenway, in partnership with nature trusts, local schools and residents, and created the public artwork for the Newham Covid Memorial Garden.

Access

The Nunnery Gallery has step-free access throughout from street level, including to the accessible toilet, and is service animal friendly. This venue does not have a hearing loop system.
