Konkylie
Join us for a deep listening gathering set in the immersive environment of Kay Shah’s exhibition, Degrees of Duality.
Konkylie is a space for listening in communion. It’s a space to rest your head and drift away to gentle sounds. Leave the world at the door and be held by the soft environment for a few hours - in community and presence with others.
Rooted in the powerful impact of sound, and inspired by Pauline Oliveros’ ‘Deep Listening’, the Konkylie Sessions invite you to tune into sound waves, in whichever way feels comfortable to you. Imaginative, playful and curious, Konkylie draws upon the folk myth of listening to the sea through a conch shell: Can you imagine listening beyond the edge of your own imagination? (Pauline Oliveros, 2005).
To mark the inaugural event of Konkylie Sessions, we invite you to join us at Castlefield Gallery on Thur 27 March, as part of Kay Shah’s Degrees of Duality exhibition. The evening will feature an ambient set by DJ, broadcaster, and ‘sound worker’, Lupini, and an instrumental performance by Seve & Sipan.
Tickets are very limited for this event. Book your ticket now.
The event will be seated on soft furnishings, and you are encouraged to bring your own cushion.
This is an event led by Konkylie Sessions, hosted by Castlefield Gallery.
