Murdoch Day tours of Kresen Kernow
Need help?
As part of the Murdoch Day celebrations in Redruth, we're opening our strongrooms here at Kresen Kernow for exclusive behind-the-scenes tours!
Kresen Kernow is a state-of-the-art archive centre built in the shell of the former Redruth Brewery, which opened in 2019. As well as 14 miles of shelving to store over 1.5 million of Cornwall’s treasured archives, the centre has research and exhibition spaces, learning rooms, preservation and digitisation studios, and a café. We are home to the world’s largest collection of documents, books, maps and photographs related to Cornwall’s history.
Especially for Murdoch Day 2024, we are offering two free tours so you can discover for yourself what's inside the 'big grey box'. Each tour will last approximately one hour. Our building is fully accessible, but please do let us know if you have any mobility or access needs.
Spaces for the tours are extremely limited, so book now!
Plus, join us between 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm for some fun family-friendly crafts inspired by William Murdoch and his house in Redruth - the first to be lit by gas light in the town!
