Rambling in Redruth - a manor maps walk

Join us on Saturday 10 October, 10am-12.30pm, for a fascinating walk and talk around Redruth with Hannah Curnow (Historic Environment Record), Iain Rowe (Cornwall National Landscape) and the Kresen Kernow manor maps team.

As part of the Mapping the Past for the Future project, we will explore the historic manors of Redruth on a guided walk of discovery. Although the manorial system declined from the 16th century onwards, clues to the manors whereabouts can still be found throughout modern-day Redruth, quite literally written in the stones around us.

Using beautiful historic manor maps as our guide, we will uncover the stories of the landscape, identify surviving clues from the past, and discover how these ancient manors have shaped the town we know today.

Come along to see Redruth through new eyes and explore the hidden history beneath your feet.

Places are limited so booking is essential and everyone attending needs their own ticket.

Important information

The walk is approximately 2 miles long and is mostly on the flat, but will sometimes be on narrow pavements with busy road crossings, so will not be suitable for very young children or dogs.

Participants must dress for the weather conditions – remember your hat, waterproofs, drinks, snacks, walking sticks etc.

Participants must bring any medication that may be needed during the walk, and also an emergency contact name and number. We will be on the move and away from conveniences for around 2 hours.

If we need to cancel the event on the day because of adverse weather, we will email attendees by 9am.
