Last day to register is November 10th.
This six week online class will explore the goddesses Epona, Macha, and Rhiannon in detail,
as well as looking at the changing relationship between humans and horses.
This class is offered on a tiered, PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN basis.
Dates: October 25th; November: *1st*, 8th, 15th, [break], 29th; and December 6th.
Time: Wednesdays at 11 am Pacific/2 pm Eastern/7 pm UK
Classes are held online, using the Zoom platform
and last between 90 minutes and 2 hours.
*class on November 1st will meet at 6pm for UK students (this is due to US clocks changing a week earlier)
Reading: I will send you a study guide with links. All reading is available online.
I love it when students attend the live classes,

1. The horse-human encounter in prehistory Introduction How humans first related to horses as prey and as possessions. 2. Epona Exploring Epona through Her iconography and the reports of Roman writers. Modern perceptions. 3. Sovereignty Where did the idea of sovereignty come from? What do we mean by it? How/why are horses involved? Is the concept still relevant today? | 4. Rhiannon Understanding Rhiannon through her story in the Mabinogi. Links to other deities. Modern perceptions. 5. Macha Understanding Macha through the Irish texts. Horse twins, human twins, and horse goddesses. Comparing Rhiannon and Macha's core stories. Modern perceptions. 6. The horse-human encounter today Horse goddesses in neo-Paganism. What would a perfect world for horses look like? |
