A class to help you approach Celtic mythology with more confidence.
This 12 week class will offer an overview of the myths of Ireland and Britain, most of which are found in medieval texts. Many of these stories concern gods, or characters who to represent deities from an earlier layer of myth. They also offer us a glimpse of earlier strata of Celtic-speaking cultures and their world views.
If you’re new to Celtic mythology (and even when you’re not so new), the sheer weight of names and jargon can be off-putting. This course will help you to define things, and organise the information.
There are so many stories, and so many characters, and they all have strange names. This course will help you sort them out, and keep them straight.
Are you struggling to find the information you need about Celtic mythology?
An important part of this class will be helping you locate and learn how to use the best books and websites. It is easier, once you know how!
There is no required reading for this class, but you will receive links to things you might like to follow up on, after each class.
There will be stories!
We will spend a lot of time learning about the finer points of Celtic mythology, but there will be a story every week!
