Who is this course for?
For registered health professionals, this live training offers an opportunity for occupational therapists and physiotherapists working with adults and children (OVER 4 YEARS of age) with neurological or developmental conditions to learn the CO-OP Approach.
What does CO-OP do?
CO-OP enables skill acquisition, problem solving and generalization and transfer of skills to the real world in a variety of rehabilitation populations, including developmental coordination disorder, autism, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, dystonia and stroke.
When does it run
3/4/5 November 2026 (3 mornings 09:00-13:00 online training) with follow-up consolidation sessions running on-line (ZOOM) 24th Feb 2027
You will attend one half-day session (either morning or afternoon) on the consolidation day to present a case where you have used the CO-OP approach, this session will be on-line.
To complete the training and receive an attendance certificate participants must attend all sessions in November 26 and a February 27 half-day consolidation day session. If you are unable to attend the consolidation session a later session can be attended but this will incur an additional £35 admin cost.

Dr Hortensia Gimeno is Clinical Reader in Child Health Research, Barts Bone and Joint Health, Queen Mary University of London and Associate Director for Therapies Research, Barts Health NHS Trust, NIHR Advanced Fellow. Hortensia is an Occupational therapist and active researcher with a background in community paediatrics.
Anne Corbett MSc DipCOT has over 30 years experience as a children's occupational therapist and NHS manager of community therapy service and is director of Learning2Practice.
In this training you will learn:
- The rationale for using for using cognitive task orientated approaches
- The evidence for CO-OP
- The seven key features of CO-OP including dynamic performance analysis, guided discovery, and cognitive strategy use.
and experience:
- The use of dynamic performance analysis
- The use of global and domain specific strategies
- The use of guided discovery
- An evidence-based framework for practice
The second stage is a consolidation session that occurs in 24th February 2027. After practicing CO-OP in your own clinical setting, you will return to join a small group half-day session to present a case study, discuss successes and challenges with implementing CO-OP, and have an opportunity for further practice of the areas presenting the greatest challenge.
