La Beltane Festival 2026

Join us in Sark for the Bank Holiday weekend as we welcome in the magical month of May, celebrating the blossom, and the bluebells, the birds and the bees.

Sark’s much-loved May Day festival La Beltane returns on Saturday 2nd May 2026, once again transforming La Seigneurie into a vibrant playground of colour, creativity, and ancient tradition.

The festival takes inspiration from Iron Age Beltane rituals while weaving in music, crafts, and performance for a joyful celebration of springtime. Since its revival three years ago, La Beltane has quickly become a highlight of Sark’s cultural calendar, drawing islanders and visitors alike to revel in the turning of the seasons.

12pm - 6pm Daytime Festival (entrance by donation)

From midday, festival-goers can enjoy a lively fayre that feels like a traditional village celebration with a magical twist. Expect well-dressing, mummers plays, maypole dancing, the crowning of May Queens, creative workshops, artisan crafts, and plenty of entertainments for all ages. Costumes and garlands are encouraged – with a prize for the most dazzling Beltane attire.

6pm - 12.30am Evening Festival (ticketed)

As dusk falls, the energy rises. The community gathers for the fiery procession and the dramatic burning of the wickerman, followed by a ceilidh to get everyone on their feet. The evening then opens into a full night of live music, where the tent will come alive with stomping feet and festival spirit. The band line-up will be announced soon, but expect a mix of brilliant local and guest performers to keep the party going until after midnight.

La Beltane is fast becoming one of Sark’s signature events – a day that feels both timeless and fresh, where ancient ritual meets modern creativity in one of the most beautiful settings in the Channel Islands.
