Japanese Bookbinding

Join us for a hands-on creative workshop where you will learn the beautiful technique of Japanese bookbinding and create your own handmade journal from scratch. We will explore different papers, covers, threads and binding styles, and guide you step by step through the process of designing, assembling and stitching your own book. You will also take a small moment to think about the purpose of your journal: what you want it to become, what it will hold, and how it can support a creative ritual in your everyday life. 

This workshop is not only about making a journal. It is about creating a personal object that can hold your ideas, drawings, thoughts, memories, plans, recipes, dreams, travels or new beginnings.

No previous experience is needed. All materials will be provided, and we’ll guide you step by step through the process.

• Paper, thread and tools for the workshop

• One handmade notebook to take home

• A calm, intimate creative morning at Natural Law, Verbier

You don’t need to bring anything. All materials will be provided. Pets are always welcome under supervision. 

Optional: if you have a special paper, small drawing, printed image or personal detail you would like to include in your notebook, you are welcome to bring it with you.
