My Mother's Eyes

Every year--May 10, my birthday, is a sentimental time for me. Not because I am growing older but because life for me began as  an orphan. To honor this part of my story and how that experience shaped me, every year for Mother's Day, I do a special concert to benefit orphans. This is going to be unlike none other. I invited Bex and The Royal Court Band to come along with me too.

The ticket price goes directly to establish a new sewing, tailoring, and design studio to train young mothers and kids how to sew in order to create livable wage jobs in the community. The goal is to raise $200,000MXP or $12,000USD. There are many local organizations supported by ST. Paul's Anglican Church and they seem to help put the right people together.

I want to thank Padre Rangel for joining me in this effort and the entire St Paul's Anglican Church congregation for hosting this fundraiser. We are also proud to announce a collaborations with Sergio Cejudo. 50% of all sales from our pop-up store from this prominent fashion designer will go to support programs as well.

I was an orphan at 11 months old, though later adopted, and having a good family foundation, my adopted mother died in 2021. I learned how to sing in church. Gospel Music is very important to me. If you have seen my gospel shows then you know this is a vibrant and special show. Let's make this year a beautiful moment. We only need 200 people to donate $58.00 and honestly I feel like with my friends, fans, and family this is will be easy to accomplish.

Cada año—el 10 de mayo, en mi cumpleaños—es un momento muy sentimental para mí. No solo porque esté envejeciendo, sino porque mi vida comenzó como huérfane. Para honrar esta parte de mi historia y cómo esa experiencia me formó, cada año en el Día de las Madres hago un concierto especial en beneficio de los huérfanos. Este será diferente a todos los demás. También invité a Bex y a The Royal Court Band para acompañarme.

El precio del boleto se destinará directamente a establecer un nuevo taller de costura, confección y diseño para capacitar a madres jóvenes y niños en el arte de coser, con el fin de crear empleos dignos en la comunidad. La meta es recaudar $200,000 MXP o $12,000 USD. Hay muchas organizaciones locales apoyadas por la Iglesia Anglicana de San Pablo, y  ayudan a reunir a las personas correctas.

Fui huérfane a los 11 meses de edad, aunque después fui adoptade, y gracias a esa base familiar y a  mi madre adoptiva que falleció en 2021. Aprendí a cantar en la iglesia. La música góspel es muy importante para mí. Si has visto mis presentaciones de góspel, sabes que son vibrantes y especiales. Hagamos de este año un momento hermoso. Solo necesitamos que 200 personas donen $58.00 y, sinceramente, siento que con mis amigos, fans y familia será fácil lograrlo.
