Celebrate the colors and abundance of late summer through expressive paintings inspired by gardens, fruits, flowers, vegetables, butterflies, and bees. Be inspired by artists like John Leslie Breck and Gustav Klimt. Explore composition, color, texture, and lively brushwork while creating artwork filled with the energy of the season. All levels welcome.

Each session includes a short drawing meditation, a demo, guided painting time, and a supportive group share.

Acrylic:

  • Gloss Gel Medium (to mix into the paint)
  • Acrylic paint (professional paint is better):
    • Titanium White
    • Black
    • Hansa Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Light 
    • Quinacridone Red or Alizarin Crimson
    • Phthalo Blue
    • Ultramarine Blue 
    • Cadmium Red
  • Optional: Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Green, and any color you wish

Surface:
> Newsprint pad or drawing paper
> 2-4 canvases or canvas board (12x16" or larger)
> Disposable Palette (palette paper)
> optional: canvas pad (not paper)
Tools:
> 2 or more brushes: flat, round... (Not watercolor brushes)
> Variety of 2 or more palette knives (preferably metal)
> Compressed charcoal
> Masking tape
> Rags and/or paper towel
> Spray bottle

> optional for collage : Mixed Media: paper collage, color pencils, soft pastels, oil pastels, crayons, markers, pens...
> optional for collage : Mark-making tools: old brushes, things to scratch with, kitchen utensils...
> optional: Stay-wet palette or "Junk Jar" an empty container with a lid to keep leftover paint.
