Come learn about Lake Bluff's artistic roots! Lake Bluff History Museum's third installment of “Chautauqua-style” Programs will take you back to the early 20th century when artists and literary figures lived and summered here, creating an Artists Colony by the lake. Lake Bluff is still a creative place! The Chautauqua-style format is rooted in the village’s history as a popular late-19th century summer resort known as the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting. The resort was a premier site for the Chautauqua movement, a unique American tradition that blended entertainment, community debate and religious education.
