Salt Ayre Cycle Track, Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, Doris Henderson Way, Lancaster, LA1 5JS
Description
This event is the fourth and final event in the 2024 Northern Roll roller ski challenge series and an opportunity for skiers to ski as many laps as possible of the cycle circuit at Salt Ayre, Lancaster, in one hour.
The event is open to all skiers (with an ability equivalent to a Snowsport England Nordic 1* Proficiency Award and above), with the option to ski for as much of the hour as they wish.
Prizes and refreshments will be available.
The event begins on the stroke of 2pm and will be run as a free technique race. The race will end at 3pm (with the ringing of the by-now-famous-and-slightly-worn Lakeland cowbell), with any skier still on the circuit allowed to complete the lap they are on. At the start only, competitors will be required to double pole for a designated short distance.
Entry
Entry to the event is priced £5 per skier.
Third party liability insurance required by competitors who are not members of a Snowsport England, Snowsport Scotland or Snowsport Wales affiliated club is an additional £5.
Booking is pre-entry on this site and bookings close at 11pm on Friday 30th August 2024.
Safety
A cycle helmet in good condition and fitted appropriately as well as eye protection (sunglasses or safety glasses) must be worn at all times when on the track. Gloves, elbow and knee pads are optional, but recommended depending on level of ability. Safety equipment is not provided by Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club and any competing skier will need to bring their own.
