GET TO KNOW SARAH HILTZ:
Sarah Hiltz is a contemporary folk artist based in Toronto, Canada. This fall (2025), she shares Ritual, a new EP exploring the rituals, rites of passage, and necessary endings that usher in new phases of life. Ritual features autumnal arrangements of layered acoustic guitars, narrative lyricism, and Hiltz’s characteristically emotive vocals, recorded and produced by the artist herself.
Hiltz’s previous album (CALM FURY) is a collection of songs that grew out of her research into the ways we experience, express and repress anger in modern society, especially women. Her work as a talented singer-songwriter has landed her Folk Music Ontario’s Songs From The Heart Award (Political Category), opening slots for Canadian icons Gordon Lightfoot and Ron Hynes, a Best Folk Album nomination (Toronto Independent Music Awards) and earned her an invitation to give a TEDx talk in 2014.

GET TO KNOW SHAWNA CASPI:
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Shawna Caspi takes her time crafting lyrics that are poetic and meaningful, often using unusual rhymes and surprising turns of phrase. Shawna spent years on the road, playing festivals and concert halls, train cars, backyards, and living rooms, supporting her warm, clear voice with intricate fingerstyle guitar accompaniment, and drawing energy from shifting landscapes and long drives through Canada and the United States. When joined by Sarah Hiltz on electric guitar and vocals, Shawna’s songs get an extra boost of tasty grooves and dreamy harmonies. Her songs resonate with stories that are relatable, but told in new and unexpected ways. She can make a room full of people feel like they’re hanging out with an old friend in a plush corner booth. This is music that creates an authentic human connection, that conveys a sense of closeness, of being understood, of feeling less alone. Her latest album, Hurricane Coming, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award and an Ontario Folk Music Award.
