On the 26th of March, LGG has the honour of hosting Saoirse Pottie for an evening of adventure stories!
Saoirse Pottie is currently cycling through Africa, from Cape Town to Rwanda, and is excited to come to Kendal to share her stories when she's back in the UK.
You can follow her journey through Africa on Instagram and get excited for the brilliant storytelling! https://www.instagram.com/going.pottie/
They’ll be time for Q&A, to dig deeper into her trip, the people she met along the way and what her must-have bikepacking bit of kit is!

The evening will be in aid of raising funds for two charities that she met on her journey. The first is Khaltsha Girls Cycling Academy in Cape Town that are teaching girls in the townships how to cycle and bike mechanic skills. They want to encourage diversity, an opportunity to gain employment in the cycling sector and independence from public transport (which can be dangerous). They also believe that empowering people to use bikes can translate into other parts of their lives- this is something that LGG wholeheartedly believes in, so we are SO EXCITED to support this!
The other charity is the Mwaya Trust, which is based in Malawi. Saoirse met a woman, a retired teacher, who went to Malawi to volunteer. She found out that the money her friends were giving to a big charity was actually double that of the school fees so she started her own NGO that gives the money directly. She also runs tutoring classes and vocational courses for pupils with SEN. Class sizes in Malawi and Zambia can be up to 100 kids which is mental so those kids are often overlooked.

Tickets are £8 per person and will include a cake/pudding and hot drink.
If money is a barrier for you to attend, there is an option for a FOC ticket when you checkout.
During the evening there will also be a raffle. Tickets will be £5 per strip, or £2 each.
The raffle includes generous donations of a Ortlieb Seat Pack and an Arundel Looney Bin bottle cage (a favourite bike accessory) from Lyon Cycle, a Gift Card from Alpkit Ambleside, a komoot goodie bag and a generous donation from Wheelbse, plus more!
CASH PREFERRED.
This event is for everyone, all ages and genders are welcome. LGG is hosting, but we’d love to welcome friends from the local area who don't ride with us, but would love to hear Saoirse’s stories and raise funds for these two charities.
