For youth ages 8 to 12, but get the whole family involved!
DATES: Mon. - Fri. August 10 - 14, 2020
START TIME: 10:00 AM
LOCATION: Remote attendance through Zoom
Take part in fun activities from the comfort of your own home. Campers will receive an art box containing all the supplies you’ll need for a memorable week with daily virtual workshops led by our Artists. Lakeshore Arts supports Indigenous artists and their right to revitalize their cultural traditions and customs on their own terms. That’s why this year's virtual camp will feature themes of Indigenous art and culture, led by two Indigenous artists who will share their stories, traditional knowledge and artistic practices. Additional proceeds from camp will be donated to a not for profit Indigenous organization in Toronto.
As a virtual camp we will use Zoom to interact with campers and facilitate the workshops. Our Artists will lead morning workshop including daily unboxing of materials. Inside each art box materials are packaged and labeled for the specific day to open for each lesson (e.g., “Monday morning”). Afternoons will be used as a self-guided period where campers will take their time in completing their projects and tasks for the day. Each household registered will receive one art box, so we encourage that if there are multiple children in the household please reach out to discuss the possibility of extra materials so that everyone can join in and partake in the fun. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to be present, but not required for supervision.
Please Note: If accessing the internet and/or using an electronic device is challenging or not possible, please contact us for an alternative arrangement for participation. If the registration fee poses a barrier for your child's participation please contact us to discuss a subsidy or waiving of the fee.
Health & Safety : Gloves and masks were worn and proper safety precautions taken to ensure the safe packaging and delivery of the instructions and art supplies campers will need to work on daily projects. Our staff will arrange for a contactless drop-off of the art box at your home prior to the start camp.
Camp capacity - This program has the capacity to distribute 20 art boxes. Registration will be determined on a first-come-first-served basis. Staff will confirm enrollment via email and provide you with more details leading up to the program. Please know that all decisions made regarding program registration are at the discretion of the programming staff.
Waitlist - If all spaces are full, you will be placed on a waitlist and be contacted by programming staff when/if a space becomes available.
Cancellation - Should a participant need to cancel their enrollment, you will be required to do so no less than two weeks prior to the start date of the program so we can contact the waitlist to offer the opportunity to another child
