Description
Alcohol-related liver disease (ARLD) refers to liver damage caused by excess alcohol intake. It is common in the UK and the number of people with the condition has been increasing over the last few decades as a result of increasing levels of alcohol misuse.
The main treatment for ARLD is abstinence and where there is a failure to adhere to this, this can be very distressing for the families of patients. Further, the stigma that can accompany this diagnosis can cause patients and families to be reluctant to seek support from their existing support networks.
Delivered for you by a hepatology nurse, this course looks at what it is like to live with this diagnosis, and the impact on those around them. " "• Describe the stages of severity of ALRD and the range of associated symptoms.
