LancsCAN Lunch & Learn - Wildlife
Need help?
Wildlife plays a critical role in maintaining terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems through foraging, nutrient deposition, disturbance, organic carbon deposition, and seed dispersal. A key part of healthy ecosystems, these processes contribute to carbon sequestration, enhancing ecosystem resilience and mitigating climate change impacts. Additionally, wildlife supports pollination, pest control, and soil fertility, further contributing to ecosystem services (the benefits we get from healthy ecosystems) that are essential for a healthy and sustainable planet.
Join us for another online 'Lunch & learn' session for
the Lancashire Climate Action Network (LancsCAN), where we'll hear from nature and wildlife organisations working to support healthy ecosystems in Lancashire. Our speakers
are: Andy Hardman, Chair of the Lancashire Badger Group, who will talk about work in Lancashire to support one of our iconic terrestrial species. We also have Harvey Hamilton-Thorpe from Ribble Rivers Trust, who will talk about a new programme of 12 projects across Lancashire and beyond that will improve habitat for some of our vulnerable and endangered freshwater species.
As always there will be opportunities for Q&A, and for networking and sharing your news at the end of the presentations.
The aim of these events is to allow members to showcase what they’re doing, spread the word about upcoming opportunities, and support peer-to-peer learning. We also hope they will strengthen the network through interaction and help build the LancsCAN community.
