The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub is pleased to offer a training session on accessible marketing and communication.
The session will be delivered by Callum Russell, independent disability consultant for the British Association for Supported Employment (BASE).

This training is designed for members of the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub team who create content for Lancashire residents, as well as colleagues on Connect to Work who produce materials such as flyers, website content, news stories, newsletters, and social media posts.

Parking is available on-site and there is no need to book in advance. Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. Lunch will be provided.
Below is the outline of the day. We understand that some team members may not be able to attend the full day; please indicate this when booking. However, we strongly encourage all Connect to Work staff to attend the full session.
Morning session (9:30–12:30)
- Introduction to accessibility
- Understanding different types of disability and impairments
- Introduction to assistive technology
- Accessibility tips and best practice
- Accessible documents
- Writing in plain English
- Reviewing examples from your organisation
Afternoon session (1:30–4:30)
- Internal communication
- Recruitment
- Accessible events and meetings
- Easy read
- Team‑specific accessibility challenges
- Action planning and next steps
Following the session, BASE will produce an accessibility framework summarising the guidance covered, which will support the creation of future communications.
