Join us at Land of Iron for a morning of fossil hunting!

Walk down onto a beach that was once home to millions of prehistoric creatures, far beneath a tropical sea. Comb the beach with our staff and volunteers to find fossils, or even a nodule of ironstone if you’re lucky.

Equipment is provided by Land of Iron, but please bring your own wellies or suitable footwear. If it is sunny, remember to bring sun cream.

Please note that, in order to make the most of the low tide, not all sessions are set at the same time. Please check each individual event for timings.

Parking
We recommend using the main public car park on the other side of the beck, The Way of St Hild Car Park.

Parking is free, but spaces are limited. Please note, there is now a 4-hour maximum stay, and you must still obtain and display a ticket from the machine using your vehicle registration.

Please park considerately and avoid parking in front of residences in Skinningrove.

The Land of Iron car park is also marked on the map, but please be aware that this is around a 10-minute walk from the beach.

Children and supervision
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult
