Join us at Land of Iron for the story of how one man went from working down the mines of County Durham to serving in a bomber crew in many missions over Germany in World War 2.
Local historian and Time Traveler, Martin Peagam, will explore through a mixture of family and social history the story of one Durham boy. Martin will explore the background to that fateful journey north, including how and why families migrated from Wales to Durham and what life in a pit village coal mine was like. Discover the reality of restricted occupations and the controversial bomber strategies used during the Second World War.
Doors open at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.
