Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

After the film there will be a short open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

Rachel Gilmour, our MP, will be in the audience, as we hope will be local councillors and people from all across society, joining us for this important discussion about our future.

You may already have heard about the National Emergency Briefing, when ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of more than 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media in Westminster. The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy, and did so on the public record. Its purpose was to demonstrate what a clear, evidence-led national emergency briefing could look like and why it is needed.

Now, a new film of the National Emergency Briefing is on general release to the public, being shown in over 1,500 venues and presenting the national implications of climate and nature breakdown - along with credible, positive responses - in a single, accessible account designed for screening in communities across the UK. It's designed to be watched together: neighbours, local leaders, and MPs in the same room, looking at the same evidence, and thinking about what comes next. The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and supported by a wide range of organisations, including the National Trust, the Church of England, WWF, the Royal Meteorological Society, Exeter University and many others. If you can come to Langford Budville Village Hall on Friday 22nd May, 6pm, you will be most welcome. If that date doesn’t work for you then why not take a friend to any one of the other screenings on our map.

Following the film, there will be short, structured local discussions on what this means for our community, including implications for local preparedness, resilience and long-term planning. Most importantly it comes with an excellent opportunity to collectively step-up our understanding and turn it into the purposeful action that is needed.

This isn't a film designed to frighten or overwhelm. It's a call to be informed. And to act together.

Already amazing things are taking place around us and there will be opportunities to learn about or to link up with local wildlife and woodland restoration projects, modern restorative farming methods, community energy generation and more.
