About the Class

*You must have taken our beginner workshop or have a minimum of six months of stand up comedy experience. Please message us at classes@laughingbuddhacomedy with any questions.

This workshop is perfect for comedians who wish to hone their comedic voice in a more advanced environment. During the one month workshop, you will be pushed further than a beginner level class to build your process, it’s not okay to just get a laugh, each laugh must be huge or get cut from your set. The goal is a strong 5 minute set from start to finish, and our instructors will make sure you don't leave the workshop empty handed.

At the end of the one month, you'll showcase your comedic skills at one of our recognized venues in NYC in front of a highly supportive crowd. We welcome you into our community and look forward to seeing you at our open mics, shows, festivals, and more.

• Week 1: Standup Comedy Overview - explore a deeper understanding of the craft and a more in-depth foundation to build a career around.
• Week 2: Material - come prepared with ideas or material you'd like to work on for your 5 min set. Be prepared to share and discuss.
• Week 3: Writing - learn next level structure, principles, and philosophy of joke writing while breaking down and rebuilding your material in a writer’s room setting.
• Week 4: Performance & Editing - hone your crowd work skills and understand the difference between crowd engagement with a specialized class in connecting with your audience and being present while performing. Prepare for a longer set to experience editing down material and prepping for a 5 min showcase set.
• Class Showcase: Perform the 5 min showcase set you’ve built along the one month workshop in front of a live audience at one of New York’s top comedy clubs. ( 1 comp audience/guest ticket provided to each student)

*Please note: The open mic bundle package is intended to be used in conjunction with the class as weekly practice.

About Kevin Dombrowski

A regular around the New York comedy circuit, Kevin has been seen multiple times on The Artie Lange Show on DirecTV, Comedy Time TV, and The Wendy Williams Show. He has been cast in a series of Geico SportsNite Commercials, entitled ‘The House Of Fans’ as the ‘Yankee Fan’, circulating on SNY and other networks.

A regular on the Artie Quitter Podcast (Artie Lange’s Uncensored Podcast), Kevin has also been heard on Laughin’ and Livin’ with Carlos Mencia and Friends (Carlos Mencia’s Podcast), The Joe and Scott in the Morning Radio Show, as well as numerous other podcasts and radio programs around the country. He's also been featured in several comedy festivals and competitions, including numerous times in the annual March Comedy Madness standup competition at the legendary Carolines On Broadway.

Kevin has performed with such acts as Gilbert Gottfried, Artie Lange, and Colin Quinn. When not performing at the top comedy clubs, casinos, and colleges around the country, you can catch Kevin opening up regularly for Carlos Mencia on the road.
