Learn the calming art of modern brush pen calligraphy online!

I'm excited to bring back my four-week course in partnership with Pentel! I will be teaching my signature modern copperplate calligraphy script using brush pens. This is a beautiful blend of traditional and modern scripts allowing for more depth in varying techniques and scripts.

Perfect for anyone looking to learn something new, develop their calligraphy style, or simply to calm their mind and de-stress. This course is for all creative levels.

In this 4-week course you will:

• learn the essential drills and techniques to create a beautiful brush pen script
• understand the foundations of traditional copperplate calligraphy styles
• feel confident creating cards and designs with a consistent calligraphic hand
• develop your own modern brush pen script variations

COURSE LOCATION

Sessions will be recorded for you to watch back or catch up on anything you might have missed. Available for 3 months after the course finishes. But if you're able to make it live, we'll be connecting online via Zoom each week.

COURSE OVERVIEW

I will be showing you how to begin using your brush pens with drills, techniques and exercises. Then developing your practice to deepen your penmanship with stroke work to perfect your letterforms, and finally conquering flourishing, variations, styles and designs to suit any project.

Week 1: The Foundations

Let’s start at the beginning! Bring in the basics we need and begin to learn how to craft letters

• Getting to grips with materials & set up

• Crafting lowercase letterforms

Week 2: The Letterforms

Embedding the shapes and strokes we will continue to learn the lowercase and begin the uppercase letters

• Improver drills and stroke exercises
• Practicing lowercase letterforms
• Crafting uppercase letterforms

Week 3: The Connections

Progressing our practise! Learn uppercase letters and bring letters together to form beautiful words

• Improver drills and stroke exercises
• Practicing letterforms
• Connecting our letters

Week 4: The Final Mark

A flourishing finish! Learn to expand your style repertoire and create dream calligraphy designs

• Common variations and adapting letters
• Adding flourishes and design elements
• Expanding your style

Laura is a calligraphy artist and teacher based in West London. In 2017, Laura experienced a period of ill mental health that led her to discover calligraphy and lettering which has become essential to her wellbeing, and now her business.
