Colour Lab: From Field to Studio part 1 - An Afternoon Nature Colour Experience

Fri 19 Sep 2025 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM The London Flower Farmer, Coppermill Lane. Meeting Point Douglas Eyre Sports Center, E17 7HE

Part one of a three-day immersive participatory experience combining colour history with hands-on discovery, hosted by colour researcher and trend forecaster Laura Perryman, founder of Colour of Saying a Walthamstow-based research studio.

Where do the most authentic colours come from? And what are the colours growing seasonally in on the door-step of Walthamstow? Step into nature's garden with colour consultant Laura Perryman for a unique flower farm foraging experience that reveals how the natural world creates the most compelling palettes.

Join Laura Perryman, author of The Colour Bible, and consultant to global brands, as she shares her creative process for finding unique colour starting points in nature.  Set in a working Walthamstow-based flower farm (The London Flower Farmer), this intimate session guides participants through the expert eye of a professional colour consultant as she reads the landscape for seasonal colour opportunities, collecting colours and plants to make seasonally responsive palettes.

Slow down and walk the farm fields already in a natural palette, observe the gradient opening blooms and stems as they respond to light, mix and create unique colours from natural inks and understand more intimately how to work hands-on to create a mindful palette.

Working with September's flowering palette 🌻  participants will:

- Forage and cut thoughtfully for plants, flowers, and petals with unique hues
- Be guided by Laura on a nature-based Colour Walk
- Learn professional colour identification techniques used in commercial trend forecasting and sustainable floristry
- Discover natural dye potential in everyday plants and seasonal materials
- Experience nature's therapeutic qualities while mixing and creating colour though mindful observation
- Create simple natural inks and pigments using botanical materials
- Mix and paint seasonal colours to develop personal palettes
- Document findings in a take-home colour journal with seasonal references
