Russell Watson returns to the spectacular Shrewsbury Abbey for another extraordinary evening of live music.
Having sold out the Abbey - one of England's most historically rich and atmospheric venues - in both 2023 and 2024, Russell is back in 2027 by overwhelming popular demand. Reflecting on what makes these shows so special, he says: "Performing in these magnificent venues is truly a dream come true. No two shows are the same which makes it incredibly exciting and humbling to be able to sing in these incredible settings!"
Set against the soaring stone arches and ancient walls of a building that has stood as a place of worship since the days of the Anglo-Saxons, this is far more than just a concert. Founded as a Benedictine Monastery in 1083 and steeped in almost a thousand years of history, Shrewsbury Abbey provides a truly breathtaking stage for an evening of powerful, moving music.
Expect a rich and varied programme of classical favourites, timeless arias, and iconic West End hits, all delivered with the signature passion and vocal brilliance that has made Russell one of the most celebrated tenors in the world.
From humble beginnings to international stardom, Russell Watson has sold over seven million albums worldwide, won four Classical BRIT Awards, and holds the distinction of releasing the two best-selling classical albums of the 21st century. His groundbreaking debut album The Voice sold one million copies in the UK alone - an unparalleled feat in classical music.
Over the course of his remarkable career, Russell has performed for world leaders and royalty including Her Majesty The Queen, King Charles III, Pope John Paul II, and Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama. His appearances at major international events - from the UEFA Champions League Final to the Commonwealth Games -have cemented his reputation as one of the world's most powerful and versatile vocalists. Having shared the stage with icons such as Luciano Pavarotti, Paul McCartney, and Montserrat Caballé, and consistently selling out concert halls across the globe, Russell's voice continues to captivate audiences everywhere.
Whether you were lucky enough to be part of the sell-out crowds in previous years or are joining us for the very first time, an evening with Russell Watson is something that will stay with you long after the final note fades. And for those venturing further afield, there's no better excuse to discover the captivating county of Shropshire - a hidden gem of rolling hills, medieval market towns, and history around every corner.
