SPOC Forum: Sustainable Investing - the debate!

Sustainable investing continues to be in the news. Trustees of a big charity have made investments into “sustainable“ enterprises which have achieved poor performance and, with that, the risk of impacting on their charitable delivery as a result. 

Conversely investing in enterprises with poor ESG status can put funds at risk by investing in ‘ beached whale’ companies. What is the right balance and what are the performance metrics for ESG style funds? The Charity Commission guides Trustees to invest to maximise the value of the assets to further the charities objectives.

Adam Spring, a portfolio Director at Cazenove Investment Managers, and Peter Gladwell, a Managing Director at L&G, will present an overview of the core points trustees might like to consider alongside the returns from managed funds taking a ‘sustainable’ investment mandate, so helping trustees with balancing their objectives.
