From Research to Revenue: Academia-Industry Collaboration and Entrepreneurship
Transitioning academic research into a successful commercial venture presents both challenges and opportunities. In this seminar, Dr Phil Kunovski, will share insights from his own journey at KYMIRA Ltd., whose core technology was born out of University research and commercialised via a start-up venture.
The session will explore the realities of working with industry, including product evaluation, securing funding, and the key differences between academic and industrial research. It will also aim to provide practical insights on engaging with third-party collaborators, using funding mechanisms such as KTPs and Innovate UK, and understanding why industry partners value academic partnerships.
