What is it?
A practical, in-person workshop all about setting up friendship groups and social events.

You’ll hear from people with Learning Disabilities and Self Advocates who have experience of setting up their own groups – they’ll share what they’ve learnt.

There’ll also be time for people to share their ideas and get advice on how to get started!

(There’ll also be cake!)

Who is it for?
People with Learning Disabilities who want to find out more about how to set up friendship groups and activities + supporters who want to help the person they support to do that.

Often groups like this can rely on support workers and this means that when staff changes happen, these groups can stop. So, this workshop is for people with Learning Disabilities who want to set up their own group but might need help to get it started so supporters are welcome to come with people they support.

When is it?
16th September,  11am - 1pm

Where is it?
At Choice Support offices: 100 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7XA

Will there be more workshops for people outside of London?
Absolutely! We're a group of self-advocates and organisations who are working together on a series of workshops across the country and online. Keep an eye out for announcements of all the workshops coming soon!

The Friendship Matters Workshops
A group of people with learning disabilities who have set up friendship groups and some organisations got together to develop these workshops.

It started as a session online and then we wanted to do more and set up in-person workshops!
