Learning Disability England and partners are hugely excited to invite YOU to help us launch 'A Guide to being a Gr8 Support Worker'.

Written by over 50 co-authors (Support Workers, people with learning disabilities, family members, researchers, managers and other professionals)this is a resource co-created for Support Workers. Support Workers - you are important! What you do is hugely important. We see how skilled your roles are and we want the world to know this too. And that is why we have created this guide to:

  • celebrate what you do
  • inspire you in supporting people in ways that really enable people to live lives, full of choice, enjoyment, great connections, humanity and dignity just like anyone else
  • help you stand up for the people you support and their rights in everyday life
  • make sure you look after yourselves in a role that can be hugely demanding

At this launch party we will:

  • take a quick peek at the guide
  • celebrate all the people who have helped create this guide
  • explore how you can use it to better support people
  • think together about how we can get it out into the world so that as many people see and use it as possible

We look forward to seeing you there!

(This event is open to everyone - you don't need to be a Learning Disability England member. If you need to contact Learning Disability England, you can do this by emailing info@learningdisabilityengland.org.uk.)
