EU Citizens: 5 Years In Limbo
Wed 26 May 2021 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM BST
Online, Zoom
Description
Almost 5 years since the 2016 EU Referendum, what has Brexit meant for EU citizens living in the UK and UK citizens living in the EU?
Elena Remigi, an Italian interpreter and translator resident in Britain for over 15 years, founded the In Limbo project to give a voice to the numerous EU citizens living in the UK in the form of a book of testimonies. The first book, "In Limbo - Our Brexit Testimonies", collated essays recording the many ways in which real lives have been affected by the outcome of the Referendum. The testimonies illustrate the practical difficulties and the profound emotional stress that has been imposed on many people by Brexit.
Following the success of this book, a second book, "In Limbo Too" was published in 2018, recording in a similar way the testimonies of UK citizens living in the rest of the EU.
Both books are highly recommended if you have not read them already. See https://www.inlimboproject.org for details.
Cosi Doerfel Hill is a Bavarian EU Citizen, the mother of Scottish children, living in Wallasey! Another key member of the In Limbo project, she is a passionate campaigner for the rights of EU citizens living in the UK, having experienced their loss herself.
