The Bilbroughs of Beech Grove Terrace

Sat 12 Sep 2026 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM Beech Grove House, LS2 9JT

Catherine Wright is the author of 'My Very Dear Aunt', the story of Anna Elizabeth Bilbrough. The Bilbrough family lived in Beech Grove Terrace which is now part of the Leeds University campus. Local, family and social history will be brought to life in an account of the daily life of a middle class Victorian family in the second half of the nineteenth century. The talk will cover the everyday activities and household management of this family of six plus two adopted cousins and their succession of live-in servants.

Beech Grove House will be open before and after this talk; an opportunity to visit the oldest building on the University campus and learn about the people who lived there, some of whom were close neighbours of the Bilbrough family.
