Celebrated Virgins

Celebrated Virgins reimagines the true story of the ‘Ladies of Llangollen’, Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, two upper-class women in the 18th century who fall in love, and flee their homophobic home in Ireland, to a rural life in Wales. The play follows the entirety of their much-speculated 50-year partnership, and is a touching story celebrating queer love.
