Join us for a relaxed and inspiring day at beautiful Rutland Water, combining wildlife, gentle walking, stunning scenery, and great company.
Rutland Water Nature Reserve is an internationally recognised Site of Special Scientific interest. It is one of the best places to enjoy birds and wildlife in the UK.
We’ll begin at the Lyndon Visitor Centre before heading to the famous Manton Bay osprey viewing area to learn more about the Rutland Ospreys.
From the bird hide, we’ll have the opportunity to use scopes, chat with the knowledgeable volunteers, and hopefully spot the ospreys out over the water. At this time of year, we may also be lucky enough to see the osprey chicks on the live webcam.
After enjoying time at Manton Bay, we’ll walk back along the lakeside path to the visitor centre, where there will be time to chat to the rangers and use the facilities.
The centre has floor to ceiling windows on one side, which give a great view across the water, you can use the binoculars and bird identification panels set up in front of the windows to help you identify the species you spot! The Teal hide at Lydon Visitor centre offers an opportunity for quiet reflection also.
We will then continue with a scenic walk towards the iconic Normanton Church, taking in the peaceful surroundings and enjoying time outdoors together.
