River Soar Clean Up

River Clean Up Volunteer morning with UOCEON

UOCEAN® 2050, is an ethnically diverse, non-profit initiative with a mission to connect people with water and heal our oceans. They clean up rivers, canals, and coastlines, by hand, boat, or kayak, while installing barriers to stop plastic at source. 

What to Expect

You will play a vital role in clearing plastic and waste from one of Leicester's Waterways. We will we working with the UOCEAN team to clean up a stretch of canal way along Abbey Park.

Long range litter pickers will be provided as well as bags to place rubbish collected.

What to Bring:

Essential:
Wellies or sturdy hiking boots
Waterproof clothing, even if rain isn’t forecast

Optional:
Work or gardening gloves

At a Glance
📅 Date: Sunday 12th July
⏰ Time: 9:00am–12pm

8:45 – Arrival at Abbey Park (car park 2)
9:00 – Introduction and safety briefing
9.15 - Walk accross to the River Soar
9.30 - 11.30 - Canal walk and clean up 
11.30 - Gather bags of litter and head back to car park.
