Pocket Forests Talk
Thu 25 Apr 2024 18:00 - 20:00
Leixlip Community Library, W23 WR96
Description
Pocket Forests is a social enterprise helping people to bring nature back into their lives by planting pockets of young native trees and shrubs in towns and cities. Working with communities around Ireland, Pocket Forests regularly teach people how to enhance their natural habitat and promote the importance of accessing nature for wellbeing. Kildare Library Services are delighted to welcome Pocket Forests to Leixlip library.
During this talk, Pocket Forests' co-founders Ashe Conrad-Jones and Catherine Cleary will tell the story of what they do and why they do it. They each left established jobs in other areas to found Pocket Forests in 2020 and get great joy from responding to the climate and biodiversity crises with positive nature-based action. They will explain the urgency of retrofitting urban areas with nature and the benefits that flow from taking that first pocket-sized step.
