The Let Her Speak Storyteller Sessions are a return to the roots of how our organization started - one woman sharing her story openly, authentically, and vulnerably. These sessions encourage a brave, welcoming space where women can come together, hold space for deep conversations, and create meaningful connections.
The Storyteller Sessions feature one speaker who shares her story in a space that holds special meaning to her. After her story is shared, the storyteller will then share with attendees a few questions to help facilitate conversations within small groups with other attendees. These questions are meant to help us dig deeper, below the surface, to share stories about ourselves we don't always have the space (or acceptance) to share.
Our Fall 2024 session features Kristin Webber of Chicken Librarian sharing her story titled "Back to the Ole Homeplace: Coming Full Circle." The ole homeplace refers to her Dad's property in Powell, TN, that he grew up on, as did she. Kristin moved away from the homeplace for 20+ years and has recently settled back onto this special property with plans to capture some of its earlier existence with decorations, gardens, and landscaping all while trying to get her business to the next level (and off the ground).
Our discussion following her story will be around our sense of place and what it takes to find that place.

MORE ABOUT THE STORYTELLER:

Kristin Webber, owner of Chicken Librarian, teaches traditional Southern Appalachian heritage skills while living on a homestead in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. She will teach you how to make and do like our Mamaw’s did but with modern conveniences. She has spent the past 15 years refining her traditional Southern Appalachian heritage skills, which she loves to pass on through her classes.
And all the while she snuggles chickens, drinks coffee, and listens to music. She’s been homesteading for over a decade now and would not have it any other way. She also likes to take photos, trail run with her good girl pups Anna Lee and Daisy, knit, make pies, grow food, and, of course, read.
