Topic: Unmasking Your Authentic Voice
Real creative expression doesn’t start on the page — it starts inside us. Before we can write with raw honesty, we first have to create the space to meet ourselves as we truly are.
For our October Story Circle (the last one of the year!), we are gathering at the historic Mabry-Hazen House (it is spooky season after all 🎃) for an immersive session centered on reconnecting with your authentic self and tapping into what you choose to cultivate in your life.
We are thrilled to be joined by guest storyteller, Angel Howard, author of Issues in Your Tissue and What's Messing with Your Messages. Angel will guide us through a process of shedding expectations, unmasking who we are beneath our daily roles, and stepping fully into our true voice.
This evening isn’t about striving to become someone new — it’s about discovering, embracing, and expressing the fullest version of who you already are.
What to Expect:
- Guest Storyteller Guided Experience: Angel will lead a gentle movement and guided meditation to calm the noise, awaken the body, and cultivate openness before we dive into writing.
- Interactive Writing Activity: A reflective session with Angel and Let Her Write Co-Coordinator, Amanda Sproles, focused on "removing the mask" — releasing outer expectations to uncover your true core focus, followed by actionable steps to support your vision.
- Community & Connection: A warm, supportive environment to reflect, share, and connect with a circle of women cheering you on.
Who is this for?
Every woman has a story, and every story is worth writing! Whether you are working on a creative project, navigating a personal transition, or simply seeking space to slow down and reconnect with your inner voice, this circle is for you.
No prior writing experience is needed — just bring comfortable clothing for light movement, a notebook, writing device, and an open heart.
Come as you are. Leave feeling rooted, unburdened, and aligned with your story.
We can’t wait to gather with you!

About our Host:

Mabry-Hazen House
In June of 1987, Evelyn Montgomery Hazen willed her 1858 Italianate home and all the family possessions within it to be used as a museum for the public good, or to sell it all and raze the house to the ground. To fulfill her final wishes, the Hazen Historical Museum Foundation was established in 1989 to preserve the elegant antebellum home and rich collection of family belongings. In that same year, Mamie Winstead donated her 1886 caretaker’s cottage and the cemetery land to the foundation. Since then, the Hazen Historical Museum Foundation has preserved and interpreted Mabry-Hazen House and Bethel Cemetery for the benefit of Knoxville and the local neighborhoods.
In 1992, after five years of restoration, Mabry-Hazen House opened to the public. Mabry-Hazen House is Knoxville's only historic house museum with the original family collection, and the Bethel Cemetery is the final resting place for over 1,600 Confederate soldiers.
