This is a nationally coordinated film and discussion initiative exploring the climate and nature crisis and what it means for communities, services and long-term resilience.
Hosted by Chris Packham CBE, the film brings together leading UK experts in climate science, health, food security, economics, national security and nature. It presents an evidence-based overview of the risks the crisis poses to the UK.
The initiative is explicitly nonpartisan and is supported by organisations including the National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, and the National Education Union.
Screenings have been held by local councils across the UK, as well as organisations like the MET Office, Transport for London, the NHS, The National Lottery, English Heritage, Channel 4, the Ministry of Defence, and Nationwide Building Society.
Local authorities play a central role in responding to climate and nature risks — across housing, transport, planning, infrastructure, public health and emergency planning. Councils are also key to local resilience, flood risk management, heat preparedness and community risk assessment.
This screening offers staff and members an opportunity to:
• Hear a shared, evidence-based national briefing on the latest science.
• Understand how national risks translate locally.
• Take part in structured, respectful discussions about risk, resilience, and the impact on the delivery of council services.
• Attend in a professional or personal capacity — to listen, contribute, or observe.
• The event includes a facilitated discussion following the film, and signposting to our new e-learning, Staff Climate Hub and resources to help us make better climate decisions.
Please note, the film does not prescribe policy positions. It is designed to inform and generate discussion.
