At the heart of this program is the magnificent Requiem by Jean Gilles—one of the most celebrated requiems of the French Baroque. It was performed hundreds of times during the composer's lifetime, notably at the funerals of such distinguished figures as Louis XV, Jean-Philippe Rameau, and the King of Poland.
