Murdering anyone should be illegal for everyone, but it isn’t in Tennessee

Scroll down for event details and to register.

Many people think that abortion was already ended in Tennessee, but it’s not true.

The reality is that Tennessee law protects a woman’s “right” to abort her own child in the womb as long as she does it herself. She is given complete legal immunity even if she aborts her child knowingly, willingly, and without any coercion.

Sadly, thousands of women are doing this. A recent report indicates that more than 4,000 babies per year are still aborted on Tennessee soil.*

Good news: An abolition bill in Tennessee!

Abolishing abortion in Tennessee isn’t complicated.

If babies in the womb have equal value to the rest of us (and they do), they should be protected from murder by the same laws that protect the rest of us.

The good news is that we hope to see an abolition bill filed during this legislative session to provide the equal protection of the laws to preborn babies in Tennessee. This bill would finally make murdering anyone illegal for everyone in Tennessee.

This abolition bill is likely to see plenty of opposition from both pro-abortion groups and Pro-Life groups.

If Pro-Life opposition sounds like a wild claim, you should know that one local state group has already voiced opposition to equal protection. In 2022 Tennessee Right to Life joined with 70+ major Pro-Life organizations and signed an open letter to legislators actively opposing equal protection legislation when it was slated to get a vote in the Louisiana House.** Equal protection for babies in Louisiana was killed by Pro-Life organizations and legislators.

Tennesseans who do want babies to be equally protected will need to speak up. Legislators need to know that Pro-Life groups like Tennessee Right to Life don’t speak for you.

Virginians and Tennesseans are welcome!

If you want babies to be equally protected by law, but are unsure how to get started doing something about it, this event is for you. While the foundations of the fight are the same wherever baby-murder is legal, we will discuss some of the differences of working in a Republican-controlled state like Tennessee vs. a less conservative state like Virginia.

If you want to learn how to talk to your legislators about equal protection, this workshop is for you.

  • WHO: John Rice-Cameron, Legislative Liaison for the Foundation to Abolish Abortion will be leading the workshop
  • WHAT: We will talk about the abolition bill expected in Tennessee, answer FAQs on equal protection with ideas for Virginia and Tennessee, and discuss some ways to get started talking to your legislators.
  • WHEN: Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM
  • WHERE: Westminster Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, TN (900 Watauga Street, Kingsport TN 37660)
  • LUNCH: Lunch will be provided for registered attendees.
  • CHILDREN: Your children are welcome, no childcare is provided.
