Prayer Walk: Praying for the Jewish Community

On Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 AM, we invite you to join us for a prayer walk through the Atlanta Jewish community. We'll walk and pray alongside Jewish families as they make their way to and from synagogue for Shabbat (the Sabbath).

Our prayer walk also falls on Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah (the last day of the Great Festival), the end of the Jewish reading calendar, and the end of the Festival of Tabernacles. As we walk, we'll still see sukkahs (little booths) standing throughout the community.

It's also a meaningful day to remember John 7:37–39. During the last day of the Festival Jesus stood in the Temple area and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink." We'll walk and pray for the Jewish community around us, asking God to reveal Jesus, the Living Water, to the people He loves. Jesus celebrated Sukkot and used the timing of the festival to point to Himself.

You might wonder why we walk instead of just praying from home. It's because there's something different about being present. The people we're praying for aren't just an idea...they are the family walking past us, the child beside their parent, or members synagogue we're standing near. Prayer becomes real and personal.

We'll start together in prayer, asking the Lord to guide us. Then we split into groups and walk quietly through the community, praying over the people around us. We're not there to approach or talk to anyone, just to walk, observe, pray, and let God do the work. You don't need to know what to pray going in; we'll give you Scriptures and prompts to guide you along the way.

What can I expect?

We’ll begin together with a brief orientation and group prayer, asking the Lord to guide and direct our time. Each participant will receive printed Scriptures and prayer prompts to use throughout the walk.

Then we’ll divide into pairs and walk through the surrounding community.

This is a prayer walk, not an evangelism or outreach event. We will not approach or initiate conversations with members of the community. Our purpose is simply to be present, observe respectfully, and pray.

You don't need to be an experienced prayer warrior or know exactly what to say. Just come with a heart willing to pray.

There is no cost to participate, but registration is required.
